A Metaphor on Relationships | skirt!

Yesterday, my boyfriend, my daughter and I were at the park.? It was a cool Florida day with a pretty decent wind; excellent day to fly a kite.

As I headed back to the car to get the "real" blanket, Tony helped Livy with her Barbie kite and walking back to them, it was cute to see him flying her kite and passing it off to her to take the reign.? My life was perfect in that moment.

Tony then unpacked his new kite; a real kite.? I watched and drank my mocha as he put the kite together; he was happy with his project and I was happy with my mocha.? He then attacked the kite string; puzzled that it was all tangled.? It was wound around the device the company provided, but somehow the string was knotted.? Tony was determined to unknot it and I knew to ask to help would be met with a "No, I got it," so I kept an eye on Weez and finished my mocha.

A half an hour (ok, maybe not that long), Tony had the string on the ground, stepping on it, himself?nearly tied into it,?and had reached his max with frustration. He had gotten most of it unknotted, but there was this little itty bitty knot that was the crux of the problem and he asked for my help.? At first it was just standing there to hold the string so he could see which segment was heading which direction as he fiddled with the knot. He then handed me the task and with my nails I was able to finish the unknotting.? We breathed a sigh of relief that was over and I said, "Well, there's a metaphor?on our relationship, if I ever saw one."

Can't see it?? Here, allow me...

Person 1?has an issue they want to tackle on their own.? The problem seems small at first, but quickly turned into a big mess.??Person 2?is aware of the problem and patiently waits for the call to assistance if needed.? Person 1 finally calls for Pearson 2 and together they untie the knots.

Beautiful isn't it??

Back to the kite...

We straighten out the lines; there are 2 lines - right and left.? This is a professional kite, people.? Tony takes the reigns and I hold the kite, we're a good 25 feet apart (total guess, but he was really small - I totally could have "Kids in the Hall" crushed him).? The wind picks up and I lift the kite into the air...? Its beautiful!? The product of our team work was flying high...strong...and then it took a dive and crashed.? Attempt #2:? Repeat including crash and then the wind died.

OK, back to my metaphor...ignore it... Kites suck.
