So what is Project Fio?

Project Fio is a pilot project which is being funded by Arts Council Wales and is being devised and facilitated by Youth of Creative Arts (YOCA).

YOCA is the theatre company of Abdul Shayek (who has just finished as Creative Associate at NTW) which focuses on working with young people and Project Fio is it's first Wales based project.

Project Fio is for young people aged 13 to 19 living or in education in Cardiff who wouldn't usually engage with the performing arts whether for economic, social or cultural reasons.?

The aim of the project is to find out about the barriers they face and look at ways in which we can break them and change the existing perceptions the young people may already have about theatre and performance through practical activity.

Through Project Fio we want to communicate to young people the careers that exist within the industry, that they may not be aware of, such as Directing, Producing, Marketing, Technical Management . . . and to show them the different routes they can take to attain them.

Our Skills Development Workshops launch next week in Youth Centres across Cardiff, and so we are trying to spread the word about the project to as many young people as possible, so if you know of anyone or any groups who you think would be interested it'd be great if you could spread the word about Project Fio.

Thanks to Arts Council Wales all Project Fio activity is FREE.
