Memorial Day parade route - The Memorial Day Parade will start at 9:30 a.m. ? form at 9 a.m. Monday, May 27, in the driveway and in front of the Sons of Veterans Hall, with the lead police cruiser on the road to the south of the south driveway. The Carver Fire Unit will form in the south driveway, and the Carver High School Band will form on the roadside in front of the hall.
The parade will leave the hall and proceed south on Main Street to South Meadow Road, east on South Meadow Road to Crescent Road and right to Main Street. At this point, the parade will turn on Main Street, heading North. The marshall will stop the parade as the band rounds the corner. Members of the VFW and Post 164 Firing Squads will march to the north side of the bridge for the service.
Upon completion, those at bridge ceremonies will reassemble their positions. Parade will continue north on Main Street to Town Hall.
At Town Hall, selectmen, officials and speakers will proceed to the gazebo for introductions and ceremonies.
Upon completion of program, the parade will reform and proceed to the United Parish churchyard, crossing in front of the church and entering the cemetery through the gate for services. All units, including the firing squads and the CHS Band will proceed into the cemetery to a muffled slow drumbeat.
The parade will reform and march from the cemetery and proceed to the Sons of Veterans Hall, where the fire department and 164 color guards will form two ranks to the steps (for the Gold Star Mother), clergy and town officials to pass into the hall. The CHS Band will march and form to the right and Scouts and youth sports to the left. This ends the main parade event. The Garnet Memorial Service will follow immediately at the North Carver Green.
Garnet Memorial Service - Parade will start at 11 a.m. ? form at 10:30 a.m. The parade will form up at the south end for the green. The police will provide traffic control. The parade will march to the Garnet Memorial, where Rev. Bob Merritt will speak. After services, the parade will march back to the south end of the North Carver Green. This ends the Memorial Day observance.
