AspenPointe Enterprises looks to expand its job training programs and consolidate its warehouse space with the purchase of a new 27,200-square-foot industrial building southeast of Circle Drive and Interstate 25.
The facility, which sits on 2.58 acres, provides the business arm of nonprofit AspenPointe with a valuable space, said Jonathan Liebert, vice president of AspenPointe Enterprises. The organization has been recycling and assembling office furniture. It has a lot of used office furniture to store and was leasing space in two small warehouses along with six small storage units.
?Those operations were really scattered around town,? Liebert said. ?And our No. 1 goal was to consolidate all of that.?
But in finding a space where the enterprise can store the office furniture, it also found a great new space for some of its worker training programs.
?This gives us a lot of options to create new hands-on training,? Liebert said. ?The warehouse space is great for construction training because you can get the floors dirty.?
He said on-the-job training is important in this market and the organization will be able to do a lot of work with people interested in getting into the construction trades now that the industry has picked up some.
Charley Conrad of The Olive Real Estate Group, who brokered the deal for the seller, said AspenPointe?s purchase is another example of users buying their own buildings, something that has been driving the industrial sector of the local commercial real estate during the past year.
