A three-month-old child was fatally mauled by a pet dog as police were investigating a domestic disturbance outside the home Monday.
The Burleson 911 center received a hangup call at approximately 6:48 p.m. Monday evening. Operators traced the call to the 200 block of Linda Drive where they began going door-to-door to find the source of the call. A domestic disturbance was found at one residence.
Police began interviewing witnesses and others involved in the disturbance in the front yard. An infant had fallen asleep in the arms of one relative and was taken inside the home and placed it on a bed, police say.
Soon after, screams were heard and man came running out of the house with the infant. The child, identified as Rayden Bruce, had been attacked by the family?s pit bull inside the home.
The child was transported to Cook Children?s hospital in Fort Worth where he was pronounced dead.
The dog, registered to the infant?s father Barrett Bruce, was taken by Burleson Animal Control and euthanized this morning.
Once the investigation into the death is concluded, Burleson police will determine if anyone will face charges in the death.
